Accessibility
All vessels are wheelchair accessible. Statue Cruises personnel are available to assist visitors that require the use of a wheelchair. Upon arrival at either Battery Park or Liberty State Park visitors that require the use of a wheelchair should ask to speak to the Ticket Office Manager, who will then coordinate the personnel that will assist with entry inside the screening facility as well as boarding the Statue Cruises vessel. Once the visitor is on either Ellis or Liberty Island our personnel will assist with boarding the vessels.
Statue Cruises does not have wheelchairs available for visitors.
The grounds of Liberty Island as well as the Information Center, Concessions and all Security Screening Areas are wheelchair accessible. Those requiring the use of a wheelchair can enter the monument and experience the lobby, museum and lower promenade including Ft. Wood (what the Statue stands in). The pedestal observatory platform includes the use of an elevator and a 24-step climb. For assistance, please contact any National Park Service employee, U.S. Park Ranger, or U.S. Park Police Officer. A limited number of wheelchairs are available at both Liberty and Ellis Islands (on a first-come, first-served basis). The crown and torch are not accessible to visitation. Although pets are not allowed aboard Statue Cruises vessels or in the park, guide and assist animals are welcome.
Pedestal/Museum and Crown Tickets: The best option to gain entry inside the Statue of Liberty is to reserve the Pedestal/Museum Ticket which allows you priority entry into the Security Screening Facility which saves you wait time at the departure point. The Reserve with Pedestal/Museum Ticket allows access to the museum at the base of the Statue and the Pedestal Observation Deck. Prior to entering the Statue of Liberty, there is a second security screening.
A limited number of Pedestal/Museum Tickets are available at the ticket offices at Battery Park and Liberty State Park.
The Crown of the Statue of Liberty National Monument is not wheelchair accessible.
From Battery Park in Lower Manhattan: There is no parking or designated handicapped parking at Battery Park. Private parking lots are available but are limited in number. Handicapped accessible rest rooms are available within the Castle Clinton National Monument. Ferry ticketing areas are also wheelchair accessible.
From Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ: designated parking requires a placard. Ample public parking is available for a fee. There are level walkways to the ferry boarding area. Handicapped accessible restrooms are also located within Liberty State Park.
At Liberty Island: all outdoor walkways are paved and level. Benches are located around the island grounds. All buildings are handicapped accessible. The observation level at the pedestal can be reached by elevator and a 24-step climb. Handicapped access to the museum, exhibits and Fort Wood promenade, via elevator, is available. Tactile models of the island, armature bars and a full-scale replica of the Statue's face and foot are located in the museum exhibits. Videos are closed-captioned. Restrooms are located in the monument and the concessionaire building. Food and gift service areas on Liberty and Ellis Islands can accommodate all visitors. Limited seating is available on both islands. An assisted-listening portable induction loop system is available at the information center. LARGE PRINT brochures are available upon request.

Emergency Medical Services: are available on both Liberty and Ellis Islands. Contact any National Park Service employee for assistance. Proper preparedness by those visiting the park can prevent emergencies from occurring. (medications, food, water, etc.)
For the safety of all of our visitors and protection of the resource, all visitors entering the monument must have a Pedestal/Museum or Crown Ticket and proceed through a secondary screening processing area on Liberty Island.
